WHO WE ARE
Durkin Forensic, Inc. (DFI) is a forensic accounting firm specializing in fraud and fraud related issues. Founded in 2008, DFI has assisted clients in a variety of industries. Ron Durkin, the founder of DFI, is a CPA, has an MBA and is a former special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Ron was an operator on the FBI’s Special Weapons and Tactics team and served his country in the military from 1966-1970 as a member of the United States Air Force.

Ronald L. Durkin founded Durkin Forensic in 2008 after retiring from KPMG LLP where he was the National Partner in charge of fraud and misconduct investigations and served as Western Region forensic practice leader. Ron’s career spans 40 years and includes more than 10 years as a special agent with the FBI. Ron is a Certified Public accountant and a retired CFE. In 2007, he received the ﬁrst-ever lifetime achievement award in Forensic Litigation Services from the American Institute of Certiﬁed Public Accountants. Ron holds a B.S. in Accounting and an MBA (with emphasis in Accounting) from California State University, Sacramento.

We recognize that our clients’ needs are often urgent and evolving, thus we go to great lengths to meet their expectations as well as their time frame. We are committed to providing our clients with outstanding customer service by always following the Code of Professional Conduct and maintaining our objectivity and integrity.
Our offices are located in Northern Nevada, however, we do not limit our footprint to that geographical area. Ron is
licensed in several states and has been involved in global investigations and other matters located from southern California to the Southeastern part of the United States as well as Europe, South America and Asia.
Our Commitment as Thought Leaders
Ron has always tried to maintain his position as a thought leader in the forensic accounting profession and as such has written (and co-written) AICPA related practice aids and discussion papers as well as new and emerging practice areas such as “forensic in the audit” and fraud risk assessments. Ron has always strived to be a leader in the accounting profession.
Through various channels Ron has continuously given back to the profession by volunteering his time and talents to recognized, respected professional organizations including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the California Society of CPAs, the California CPA Education Foundation and others. By taking on the role of author, speaker, CalCPA council member, conference chair and committee chair, he embraces the opportunity to collaborate with other top leaders in the accounting field in order to advance the profession and work to continue the promotion of accounting education. Ron and his former forensic teams have developed many courses aimed at educating members of the accounting profession in various areas including forensic data analysis, fraud investigation, fraud prevention and detection, forensic auditing, bankruptcy and litigation services.
